Parkers Executive Chauffeurs were delighted to be asked to help provide a VIP chauffeur service on behalf of Iranian team who were competing in the 2019 World Transplant Games in Newcastle Gateshead. The Games originated in Portsmouth back in 1978 with only 99 UK competing athletes, however, this has now grown into a truly international event with 2500 athletes now, from 60 countries around the globe. The aim is to promote the need to raise public awareness of organ and tissue transplants whilst demonstrating the success of transplant surgery.
The teams competed in fifteen different events at locations around Tyneside and Wearside including some world class venues such as Gateshead International Stadium, St James’ Park, Sport Central at Northumbria University and Sunderland Aquatic Centre. Our job was to provide a chauffeur service for the VIP group following their athletes to the many different venues throughout their entire six-day visit.
As with many sporting events, they bring together people from all parts of the world and from all different cultures, but it’s always inspiring to be personally involved with those from such diverse backgrounds. It was a real pleasure to help showcase our brilliant region by providing our VIP chauffeur services to our friends from Iran.
