Coronavirus Ready
Whilst the news about a potential game changing vaccine is on it’s way, it’s worth remembering that until it’s been finally approved and market ready, we still need to continue with the same safety protocols as before. Obviously priority will be given to NHS staff, frontline care home workers and the elderly vulnerable first. Initially it is expected that vaccine availability will be limited, meaning most vaccinations for the wider population will not take place until early 2021. As many of you will already know, our chauffeur car service has been fully operational throughout the pandemic, taking particular care to implement very stringent health and safety protocols to help protect all of our travelling clients. So for now, we’ll continue to sanitise vehicles with spays and wipes, have hand sanitising gel available in all vehicles and continue to wear face masks as required. To ensure that we remain one of the safest forms of travel, we won’t relax these measures until we’re officially advised that it’s safe to do so.
Optimism Soars
Many of the major losses by companies impacted by the coronavirus pandemic have suddenly rebounded on the news of the development of of a new vaccine that promises a 90% success rate of preventing covid-19 infections. It’s still early days yet, however, after months of doom and gloom, markets have erupted on the first good news in many months. Those most affected by the pandemic, particularly those operating in the travel and tourism market place have seen stock values rise significantly such as British Airways owner IAG which saw shares rise by 40%. Others benefiting from the optimism of the announcement were Rolls Royce up 33% and Cineworld who saw its shares jump by 50%. Interestingly there are 10 more vaccines in the final stages of testing around the world including from teams in the UK and US.

At last some good news, albeit provisional, subject to more testing, but signs are positive about a new vaccine promising a 90% success rate of preventing people getting Covid-19.
